What is 5G? (& How It’ll Actually Change Your Life)

Chances are you’ve heard the term 5G at some point already. It’s being mentioned a lot right now. And, honestly, there’s a good reason. 5G is going to have a pretty big impact on our daily lives and so, of course, all the carriers want to show what they’re doing with it and are pushing it more and more. The truth is though that 5G is complicated and there is a lot to talk about when trying to explain it. So, in this episode of Decodr, where I break down a new piece of tech every week, let’s dive into all

Samsung Galaxy Book S Complete Walkthrough: Super Thin PC with Great Battery Life

The first laptop with a Snapdragon 8cx chipset in it was released not too long ago by Microsoft (they white-labeled the processor as the Microsoft SQ1) and I thought it was a great little competitor to the iPad Pro (you can check out my video on it here). But, while I did enjoy it, it sort of felt like it was a bit crippled in battery life. Qualcomm, the makers of the Snapdragon 8cx have shown us crazy multi-day battery life estimates from these chipsets and then Microsoft finally used it but gave the laptop it was in a very

What is WiFi 6? (& Why Your Next Router Should Have It)

There has been a lot of talk about the next generation of WiFi called WiFi 6 a lot lately. Now while it might seem like WiFi is just feeling left out while everyone is talking about 5G as the next level upgrade to the cellular networks and it just wants to feel like its getting an upgrade, too, it actually is a very clever new standard for how Wifi works, ways to make it faster, and perhaps most importantly, how to future proof it to handle the massive influx of new wifi-connected devices we keep adding to our own networks.

How 5G Can Benefit You Right Now?

5G is a term we’re starting to hear about right now, and while there is a ton of cool things it will enable in the future that everyone is talking about, you might be wondering what you can do with 5G right now. Well, I’ve spent the last couple of days testing out Sprint’s 5G network that went live recently in Chicago and, frankly, I was a little skeptical as to what you can do with it now, not 3 years from now, right now. But, honestly, it was way more useful already than I thought it would be. This

Montblanc Summit 2 Complete Walkthrough: The $1000 Smartwatch

I managed to get my hands on a Montblanc Summit 2, the latest smartwatch running Qualcomm’s newest WearOS specific chipset the 3100 that supposedly increases battery life for WearOS watches (something they desperately need). In addition to that, it’s made by a high-end normal watch manufacturer called Mont Blanc whose watches normally are made from higher-end materials and retail for thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars. So let’s see what this mix-up of new and old-school ideals is all about in this complete walkthrough. Now, if you aren’t familiar, a complete walkthrough on the site is where I

Qualcomm Snapdragon 855: Why You Should Be Excited

So we were just in Hawaii for Qualcomm’s annual Snapdragon summit. And you’ve probably already heard by now, but they launched their new flagship chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. Now considering Qualcomm’s flagship chipset is what basically powers all of next year’s flagship Android devices, we got to see some things here that are a really good indication of what is going to be available in next year’s flagships. And I have to admit, I think we all walked away a little excited. Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 is a 4th Gen AI Engine So whether you know this or not, Qualcomm

ACPC

Always Connected PC w/ Unlimited Data for the Rest of 2018 Giveaway!

If you haven’t seen them before, Qualcomm and Microsoft partnered up to create a new line of PC called the ACPC with Windows running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. ACPC stands for always connected PC, I would have gone with Snapbook, but whatever. The benefits of running a PC on the Snapdragon platform, usually designed for phones, is that it enables the laptop to be able to have up to 22 hours of battery life and always be connected (hence the name). The laptops have Gigabit LTE so they’re always connected to the internet. They can even stay that way during

Why You Should Be Excited About the Snapdragon 845 (Video)

I’m here in Hawaii for Qualcomm’s tech summit and if you’ve maybe heard they’ve just announced their successor to the super popular Snapdragon 835, the new 845 and frankly, while it might be hard to get super into a piece of silicon without being able to see what it’ll do in a device, I’m kind of excited about it. The list of features on this thing are pretty impressive and there are a few standouts that I think we should discuss. Firstly, and of course, something I’m particularly excited about considering my line of work is the capturing capabilities. This

Formula E

How Formula E Works (& Why It Will Change the World)

Recently, NYC hosted the first ever internationally recognized car race in the city. Which is kinda crazy to think about on it’s own. But it was historic for another reason, too: it was also the first ever all electric car race to happen in NYC, as well. Qualcomm, the technology sponsor of the event, was kind enough to invite me to the race being held in Brooklyn to get a behind the scenes look at this relatively new motorsport. It was actually really fascinating, and, of course, I brought a camera, and when I asked you guys here on YouTube,

Qualcomm Fingerprint Sensor Tech

Qualcomm Shows Off New Fingerprint Sensor That Works Through Glass, Metal, & Even Underwater

Well, we can all stop wondering if a fingerprint sensor under glass is possible as the rumor for the latest iPhone would suggest. At MWC Shanghai this year, Qualcomm showed off their latest fingerprint sensor technology. The tech uses ultrasonic frequencies to scan through materials and register fingerprints (crazy, right?). Because of this it’ll work through glass, metal, underwater, and can even register heartbeats and swiping gestures. Here’s what Qualcomm had to say in their press release about that technology; Qualcomm Fingerprint Sensor for Display is the mobile industry’s first commercially announced multi-functional ultrasonic solution capable of scanning through OLED
