Camera Comparison: P20 Pro vs Pixel 2 XL vs iPhone X vs Galaxy S9 Plus

The Huawei P20 Pro was released recently and with it one of the first three camera smartphones (and the first using Leica as a partner, for sure). In addition to the 3x telephoto, the RGB, and monochrome cameras it’s sporting, it also has a much larger sensor than any other flagship device on sale right now. So, this begs the question, can that help the P20 Pro compete with the other best camera phones you can buy? Let’s do a camera comparison with the P20 Pro vs. the Pixel 2 XL, the iPhone X, and the Galaxy S9 Plus and […]

Razer Phone Battery Test

Battery Test: Razer Phone vs Mate 10 Pro vs OnePlus 5T vs Essential vs Note8 vs Pixel 2XL vs iPhone X (Video)

Another experiment today, this time I wanted to see how the Razer Phone held up to the other top flagships in terms of battery life. So to test this, I filmed a time-lapse of the Razer phone playing the same Nyan cat video on YouTube and on the same wifi network as all the other device I had in my previous flagship battery test video, cropped it into the video (replacing the worst performer from that video, the V30), and timed it so it was lined up with the rest of them and let them all run with timers. Here’s

S9 Plus vs Flagships

Battery Test: Galaxy S9 Plus vs iPhone X vs Pixel 2 XL vs Mate 10 Pro vs OnePlus 5T vs S8 Plus

Another day, another experiment. Today, I wanted to check how well the new Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus’s battery holds up against the other top flagships out at the moment. So to test this, I filmed a time-lapse of the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus playing the same Nyan cat video on YouTube and on the same wifi network as all the other device I had in my previous flagship battery test video, cropped it into the video (replacing the worst performer from that video, the V30), and timed it so it was lined up with the rest of them and let

Android P Notification

How to Update to Android P Right Now (Video)

There’s a new version of Android out called Android P (my money is on it being named Peppermint when it’s released to the public, for the record) and Google has released the developer previews. If you aren’t familiar, the developer previews are really meant for developers to test out their apps on the latest version of Android in order to make sure it works, maybe integrate new features, etc. but it’s also what people like us (see: nerds) like to install in order to test out and play around with new features before they are released. Now, it goes without

Camera Comparison: S9 Plus vs Pixel 2XL vs iPhone X vs S8 Plus (Video)

Time for yet another Galaxy S9 experiment of sorts. In this video, let’s see how the Galaxy S9 Plus’ camera stacks up against the reigning champs of the iPhone X, Pixel 2 XL, and Note8. For this, I wandered all over NYC and managed to get the same shots on all four devices so we could line them all up and see how well they each did. Without further ado, here’s the camera comparison. Here are the photos for your own comparison below. Let me know in the comments which you preferred and why and follow me on social for

Speed Test: Galaxy S9 Plus vs iPhone X vs Pixel 2 XL vs Mate 10 Pro vs OnePlus 5T vs Note8

Ok, let’s do an experiment with the new Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. I wanted to see how it (and the Snapdragon 845 in it) compared to the other flagships currently out. Namely the iPhone X, Pixel 2 XL, Mate 10 Pro, OnePlus 5T, and the Note8. So to test it, I opened the same apps on all the devices running the same accounts on the same gigabit speed WiFi network and lined up the footage to see how long it took each to render and display the app or game. Now, of course, this isn’t the most scientific test, but

How to Make Any Android Phone Look Like the Pixel 2 (Video)

If you’re not going to buy a Pixel 2 but are still slightly feeling the sting of jealousy at how clean the software looks on the new devices sold by Google themselves, here’s a quick video on how to get all of that stock, slick Google software on whatever Android device you have–including those new live wallpapers that I’m personally in love with. So in this video, I’ll show you how to make any Android phone look like the Pixel 2. Allow Unknown Sources Before we get started we’re going to be downloading apps that aren’t in the Play Store

Android Oreo Launcher Notification Dots

How to Get the Android Oreo Launcher (Video)

Google just announced their new Android version called Oreo this past week and, as promised, have begun pushing the new update out to Pixel and Nexus devices. If you don’t have one of those devices though, there’s no telling when you’ll be getting the new Android 8.0 update, unfortunately, but thanks to some crafty developers, you can try out the new launcher (and no, no root is required). Reddit user AmirZ and another developer DeleteScape, managed to get the new Pixel launcher to work on other Android devices that aren’t able to download it from the Play Store and, surprisingly,

Unroot the Pixel

How to Unroot the Google Pixel & Pixel XL

Need to unroot your Pixel or Pixel XL? Maybe you’ve taken rooting too far and now need a clean slate? Maybe you need to sell the phone? Either way, it’s pretty easy to get it all back to stock. Thanks to Google providing us with the firmware on their own site (since it is a Google built device), it comes down to just flashing that and relocking the bootloader using some commands in ADB. If you’re ready, here’s how to unroot the Pixel or Pixel XL. Before You Begin You should’ve rooted your device using our how to root the

Root Pixel XL

How to Root the Google Pixel & Pixel XL (Video)

The Pixel and Pixel XL are not the easiest to root. Google has added a lot of security to the system files and, long story short, developers have had to cleverly come up with a systemless root method (which is way harder than it sounds). On top of this, Google removed the recovery partition which was used heavily in most rooting methods as well as being used for flashing custom ROMs etc. Chainfire, recognized master of all things root (might be his official title?), though has developed a version of SuperSU (the program used to control what apps get root permissions

Google’s First Ever Phone, Is It Worth It? (Pixel XL Video Review)

The first phones actually designed by Google called the Pixel and Pixel XL are finally here. Unlike the Nexus devices before, these phones aren’t just guidelines by Google that were then handed off to a manufacturing partner, but rather were completely designed by Google and just brought to fruition by HTC. Knowing this, two questions arise immediately. One, what does Google actually think a phone should be and, two, do you want what Google thinks a phone should be? Pixel vs Pixel XL So I have here the Pixel XL, the larger and more popular of the two judging by which

Pixel XL, Really Blue

Google Pixel XL, Really Blue, Unboxing (Video)

The Google Pixel XL in really blue (it is really blue, by the way) finally arrived today. I’m excited about this phone since it, and the Pixel, are the first phones that were actually designed and made by Google. HTC manufactured them, but Google told them what to build. Should be interesting to see what Google wants us to have in a phone. But, before we get to all of that (and we will in a review coming ASAP), we should probably do a Pixel XL unboxing, right? Let me know what you guys think of the Pixel XL, or the
