Today, LG released the 7th generation of their G-Series flagship devices, the LG G7 ThinQ. The device looks very similar to the G6 but has a metal trim around the outside and sports Gorilla Glass 5.0 on the front and back, is IP68-certified, and is Qi wireless charging capable. Just like the LG V30S ThinQ, the device has added AI functionality for things like the camera that enables it to auto-detect a scene and adjust color saturation, exposure, etc. for that specific scene. Other than that, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (the latest flagship processor also found […]

Razer Project Linda: Turn Your Razer Phone Into a Laptop (Video)

I’m here at CES and wanted to try and get some videos out for you guys of some of the stuff I’m being shown. This is a tech convention though, so please excuse the quick and dirty nature of these. First up, let’s talk about Razer. Razer, as is Razer fashion, had a new Project to unveil at CES. This time it’s called Project Linda and is a laptop dock for your Razer phone. Essential Android Phone

Android’s Founder Launches His Own Sexy Android Phone

Andy Rubin, the original founder of Android before Google bought them back in 2001, has been teasing that he’s making an Android phone with his new company Essential for some time now. Today, he finally announced that new phone, and it’s sexy as hell. The phone is a flagship device with specs that definitely match that title. Take a look at the chart below: [table id=4 /] Now, look at the device itself with its almost completely screen front and slick back (that shows no logos, a point they mentioned during their announcement that I appreciate). Right?? The company says

Acer Reveals The GPU in Their Ultrathin Gaming Laptop (Hint: It’s Better Than I Expected)

Remember that Triton 700 super thin, metal gaming laptop I got to see at the Acer event in NYC last month? Well, when they showed it off, we didn’t know what GPU was inside. Until now. Turns out alongside NVIDIA announcing they’re new Max-Q program with OEMs, a way of optimizing laptops with OEMs to get them to be more efficient and powerful from the ground up, Acer has announced that the Triton 700 we saw is one of the first members of this new program. Because of this, they managed to squeeze a full-blown GTX 1080 into a chassis that’s

The New Surface Pro, Surface Pen, and Type Cover

The new Surface Pro was announced today by Microsoft in Shanghai today. Expected to be the Surface Pro 5, Microsoft has switched things up (and simplified things, I think) by just calling it the Surface Pro. Period. New Surface Pro Specs The new device is very similar to the Pro 4 in terms of looks and form factor. We have the same detachable design, screen size, resolution, and even weight and size (for the most part). The only real noticeable difference looks-wise is that the corners are a bit rounder on the new Pro and if you have the kickstand

Appeals Court Just Overturned the Federal Drone Registration Law

Back in 2015, the FAA set in place a registration system for drones that required their pilots to use a website, pay a $5 fee, and pass an exam to get their license to legally fly their drones in the US. A few days ago, however, that has just been blocked by an appeals court in DC. According to the judges, a law from 2012 that limits the FAA’s power to regulate drones because they are classified as model aircraft in it. “Congress is of course always free to repeal or amend its 2012 prohibition on FAA rules regarding model

The New York Times in 1942 Will Make Your Appreciate Writing On a Computer

I was inspired this morning by a feature on Mashable that showcased photos from 1942. Thought some of you guys might like to see them, too. The reason for these photos existing is that an Office of War photographer named Marjory Collins went for a visit to the New York Times in 1942 and documented the painstaking process of making the newspaper come to life. From the manual process of sending copies of printed pages on conveyor belts up to editors and back down (what? no email? no Slack?), to the physical laying out of each article to determine where it

YouTube is Spending Millions on Free Original Content

YouTube just announced at NewFronts (a video ad convention here in NYC) that they are now going to be offering new, premium content on the site with top celebrities and creators for free. Kevin Hart, Ellen DeGeneres, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato and Ryan Seacrest have all announced that they will be creating some of these premium shows for YouTube at launch and top creators like Rhett & Link and the Slow Mo Guys are also on board. What makes this different from the normal channels we see on the site already? YouTube is funding it. Bloomberg reported, that funding will

AFTV Amazon Touchscreen Echo

Amazon Touchscreen Echo Images Leaked?

So take this with a grain of salt as most leaks and rumors, but Mashable just posted a photo they found in a tweet of what is supposedly the next Amazon Echo with a full touchscreen. Exclusive: This is Amazon’s new Echo with a built-in touchscreen https://t.co/MSKgWni50S pic.twitter.com/YJewy8dSfE — AFTVnews (@AFTVnews) May 5, 2017 And, I have to agree with Mashable: it’s not the best looking device. There have been previous reports, namely from the Wall Street Journal, saying that Amazon is working on a 7″ touchscreen version Echo with better speakers, but in that report they mention it looking

OnePlus 3T

The OnePlus 5 Confirmed to Be Coming This Summer

That’s exciting, no? The successor to the super popular OnePlus 3 and 3T has been confirmed by OnePlus to the Verge. The reasoning behind the jump from 3/3T to 5 instead of 4, is apparently because 4 is considered an unlucky number in China (and it’s just a happy coincidence that this is technically OnePlus’ fifth phone, according to the article). Regardless of the name, OnePlus has made a name for themselves for producing high-end phones at a fraction of the cost of the big name brands I’m a fan, for sure). Unfortunately, the report doesn’t mention any specs for

Uber Pickup

Uber Broke Apple’s Rules and Got Caught

This story has been going around the internet that originated on the New York Times’ site –feel free to read it there in full detail. The article essentially discusses Uber’s CEO, Travis Kalanick, and how his “drive to win in life” has caused a lot of issues for him and his company. The big part of this article that all the subsequent articles focus on is the fact that in 2014 Uber used a method called fingerprinting to leave information on iPhones even after they were erased so they could track them. Those articles usually don’t mention why Uber apparently did this.

Plastc Card Lost

Plastc Disappears After $9 Million in Pre-Orders for Their All-in-One Smart Credit Card

Plastc took $9 million dollars in pre-orders for their card that allows you to store a number of cards in it digitally and then swap between them by tapping the e-ink touchscreen built-in. Brilliant, right? I thought so, and that’s why I ordered one myself from the Kickstarter campaign (along with my father, who loved the idea). The company spent the last two years sending out email updates on how the production process was coming along. Emails like these (Reading them now is almost funny with the level of conviction they had. Almost). After a year of these, I said to my father,

Google’s Working on Dueling AI That Can Teach Each Other Without Humans Needed

SKYNET. FREAKING SKYNET. Sorry, every time I see one of these articles, images of the Terminator run through my head as I’m sure they do a lot of yours. I digress, though. Regardless of whether the push into AI is one day going to kill us all, it is an incredible technology. The basic concept that is getting a lot of attention right now, is machine learning. In a nutshell, this is the process at by which a human can teach a program to do something through example, instead of coding hard if/then statements that the machine then has to

Snapchat vs Instagram

The Truth Behind Instagram Stories vs Snapchat

So there’s been a lot of talk this last week about how Instagram Stories has just passed Snapchat for daily users. Part of what’s fueling the headlines is, of course, the fact that Stories are a pretty blatant rip of Snapchat’s core features. And when I say blatant rip, I mean blatant. As in there was no one at Facebook (who owns Instagram by the way) who even made any attempt to adjust, change, or hide the new features. Let me show you what I mean. From the camera: To once the photo is taken: To typing: To even how
