First MeeGo Device Announced

So the device is actually one we’ve heard of already, but the news here is that instead of running Moblin, the LG GW990 will be skipping it to run MeeGo. In case you missed it, MeeGo is the new joint OS created by the merging of Maemo from Nokia and Moblin from Intel. We still have no clue what MeeGo will look like or what parts of each OS they will take to combine into one, but this does signify that LG was at least excited enough about the MeeGo OS to scrap Moblin and announce MeeGo publicly. The GW990 is […]

Nokia and Intel Announce MeeGo, Death of Maemo and Moblin

For everyone using an N900, especially listen up. Nokia and Intel have co-announced that they will be combining Maemo (Nokia) and Moblin (Intel), their two respective open source OS’s, into one OS called MeeGo. These two giants have decided that they can take the best of both OS’s and combine them to make a much better OS over the coming year. What does this mean? We’ll were not sure either as the announcement was pretty vague on details, but what we can probably assume is that this means no more Maemo or Moblin coming out (and no Maemo 6, I

Skyfire Making an Android Browser, Buys Kolbysoft to Get Started

You probably don’t recognize the name Kolbysoft, but you will most likely recognize their product if you use Android. They make the Steel browser that can be downloaded from the Market, one of the first 3rd party browsers for the Android OS. Well, Skyfire, makers of the Skyfire browser, one of the first full flash browsers for the Windows Mobile and Symbian OS’s, has decided to purchase Kolbysoft in order to get their foot in the door for their browser on the Android OS. As someone who has used Windows Mobile phones in the past, Skyfire was my favorite browser.

Windows Mobile 7 First Look

Nice videos from Engadget on the new Windows Mobile 7 user interface. Talk about starting from scratch, that is exactly what Microsoft did here. Here’s the videos: So the UI will definitely take some getting used to, but I think that’s a good thing. It means they did what they needed to do; take some risks, create completely new OS, and in doing so create a new mobile experience. The most striking thing to me about the UI is how simple it is. There aren’t even backgrounds (or multiple colors in it for that matter). This is a big

New N900 Hack: Use Your PS3 Controller to Play Games on Your N900

So add another hack to the list for the N900. Apparently a Polish developer has now made it possible for you to use your PS3 controller to control games on your N900. Not sure of the real world functionality of this (means you’d be carrying around a PS3 controller), but it still manages to impress with the hackability (not a word I’m sure) of the Nokia N900. Check out the video below: Want a How To? Let us know if the Contact Us section of our site and we’ll do it 🙂 Source

Windows Mobile 7 Running Zune Software and Sport Tegra Chip, Confirmed for MWC?

Seems like it, according to Gizmodo. The Gizmodo writer says that his old editor who works at MuyComputer.com (someone he trusts), has divulged that the Zune-like Windows Mobile 7 phone(s) will 100% confirmed be launched at MWC. Another thing he has confirmed is that it will sport the NVIDIA Tegra (monster chipset FYI) and have a 480 x 272 touchscreen, HDMI video out, and weigh just 2.46 ounces (for comparison, an iPhone 3GS weighs 4.76 with a similar net pixel count screen). Curiouser and curiouser.

Mac OS X 10.3 Running on an N900?

So score another point for the geekiness of the N900 (I mean that in the best way possible). For a phone with a very limited user base, it sure has a lot of programmers tinkering with it. And thank goodness for that. Apparently, with Android and Windows 3 able to run on the N900 (more so in a proof of concept way but still), what is the next full OS to try out? Ah yes, how about OS X? Well, Toni Nikkanen of Finland, decided to do just that (he also became the first person to load OS X
