How to Overclock the Google Nexus 10

Not only can you overclock Android smartphones, but you can overclock Android tablets as well since they use the same Android OS. Here in this guide, we’ll show you how you can overclock your Google Nexus 10 tablet and make it work a bit faster than now. So follow the guide given below and you’ll end up with a better performing Google Nexus 10:

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the Google Nexus 10 procedure and root your device first.

2. You must have CWM Recovery installed on your device. Follow our guide on the same to do that.

II. Make a Backup:

1. Head over to the Google Play and download and install the Quick Boot app on your device.

2. Once the app’s been installed, launch it from your App Drawer.

3. Hit the Recovery option and your device should reboot into the CWM Recovery mode.

4. Once in Recovery, select backup and restore followed by backup.

5. It’ll create a backup of your current system so you can restore it at a later time.

6. You’re done!

III. Downloading Required Files:

1. KTManta Kernel (Download link’s available in the first post)

IV. Flashing the Overclock Kernel on the Google Nexus 10:

1. Download and place the KTManta Kernel archive onto your Desktop. Do NOT extract it.

2. Plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.

3. Copy the Kernel archive over to the root of your SD card.

4. Once it’s been copied, unplug your device from your PC.

5. Open the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.

6. Hit the Recovery option and you’ll reboot into the Recovery mode.

7. From the Recovery menu, select install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard.

8. Choose the KTManta Kernel zip to be flashed on your device.

9. As soon as you select the zip, it’ll begin flashing it on your device.

10. Once the Kernel has been flashed, reboot your device.

11. You’re done!

V. Overclocking the Google Nexus 10:

1. Download and install either of these apps on your device:

SetCPU

KTweakerT

2. Once the app’s been installed, open it from your App Drawer.

3. Use the options available in the app to increase your device’s clock speed. Keep on increasing it as long as your device is stable.

4. Make sure not to choose save on boot option in the app.

5. Once you find your device to be stable and better performing at a certain clock speed, close the app.

6. You’re all done!

Awesome! Your device’s been successfully overclocked and it should now perform much better than ever!

VI. Reverting Back to Stock Kernel (Optional):

1. Open the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.

2. Hit the Recovery option and wait till your device gets into the CWM Recovery mode.

3. Once in Recovery, select backup and restore followed by restore.

4. Restore the most recent backup you have there on the list.

5. Once the restoration’s done, reboot your device.

6. You’re all set!

Brilliant! You’ve successfully reverted back to the stock (non-overclockable) kernel! Safe and secure!
