Chinese Manufacturer Passes the 11 Million Unit Mark on Budget Phone

Further proof that there is still a lot of underserved users out there in the world that aren’t interested in the top of the line flagship devices that those of us in specific countries complain about being $200 on a contract, a Chinese manufacturer just hit a pretty sizable number of units sold for their $86 Android phone. Xiaomi just announced that their RedMi 2A budget phone with 2GBs of RAM and 16GBs of storage (see more phone specs here) just passed the 11 million units sold mark since being released in March. Compare that to say the HTC One

For anyone that pre-ordered the Nexus 5X on the first day of the announcement, you’re device might be on its way. People are reporting that they are getting shipping notifications on their Nexus 5X orders that they purchased from the Google Store and that they’re expecting them by mid-week. I’m still waiting to hear about my Nexus 6P, but anyone out there who bought either on the first day get a shipping notification as well?

Blackberry’s New Android Device, the Priv, Has an Official Video

Well well, it’s about time, Blackberry. RIM, maker of Blackberry has finally given up on trying to get people to use the Blackberry OS and has adopted Android. They’re latest device, running on Android 5.1.1 is called the Priv, and let’s be honest, it loses what was holding them back – the OS – but still keeps what Blackberry users used to crave –the keyboard and BBM. Check out the video below and let me know what you think. I, for one, miss when phones had real keyboards so I’m excited to give it a try. Any of you guys?

HTC One A9 Outed By Orange France, High-Res Photos and Specs In Tow

Well so much for secrecy. The new, soon to be announced, HTC One A9 has been accidentally leaked by the French carrier Orange. On top of the below high resolution images, there seems to also be a (very high and hopefully incorrect) price tag of €599.90. A price fit for a top level smartphone maybe, but according to the also leaked specs, that’s not what this is. Specs: 1080P 5″ display 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera Android 6.0 You can head to the Orange France site for yourself here as they haven’t taken the page down, cause you know,

Asus Zenfone 2 Bootloader Unlock

ASUS Releases Bootloader Unlocking Tool for the ZenFone 2

I always get really excited whenever I see a manufacturer who embraces rooting and understands that it doesn’t harm them. The phone has already been paid for – their money has been made – and that so long as they include a warning about potentially voiding the warranty (and that potential is based on whether the issue at hand is due to the rooting or is a manufacturer fault) they won’t have to deal with customer complaints and issues caused by it either. With that tiny rant (I could go on for a long time on this, of course) over,

Xiaomi, China’s Largest Phone Maker, Announces a Launch Event

Most of you won’t be familiar with Xiaomi, even though they are the third-largest phone maker in the world, but that doesn’t mean you should immediately discount their phones. They are one of the few companies in the new made-in-China flagship phone craze along side Oppo, Meizu and Huawei. Essentially all of these manufacturers started making Android phones with similar specs to those of our big name brands like HTC, Samsung, Sony, etc. but at a much lower price point. And why not, most of those big companies are having their devices made China anyway, right? Xiaomi hit their stride with the

Microsoft Confirms Pricing for the Lumia Dock that Turns Your Phone into a PC

One of the things that I was clearly excited about Microsoft finally doing, was the dock that allows you to plug in your new Windows 10 phone into a monitor, keyboard, and mouse and allow you to use it like full-blown Windows –start screen and all. Even though Microsoft demoed the new ability at the event for us to try out, they never announced a price. Until now. The “Display Dock”, as it will be called apparently, will go on sale in November – right after the new Lumia 950 and 950XL go on sale – for $99. Honestly, I think

New OnePlus Device Shows Up at FCC

There have been a bunch of rumors and “leaks” about a new OnePlus phone coming out on the heels of the relatively just released OnePlus Two. Today, however, the FCC had a filing from the company dubbed the ONE E1005 and it’s most likely the device everyone has been yammering about. Thing is, it doesn’t match a lot of the rumors. For one, the device in the FCC filings doesn’t show a USB-C port (which I’m sure most people just assumed was coming with the new device since the OnePlus Two has one), and has a 1.9ghz processor speed which
