New Phone: ITG xpPhone (If it can be called a phone that is…)

As the title suggests, I’m not even sure if you can call it a phone really. But the company that manufacturers it are calling it that by the name it was given, not in anyway copied from the iPhone of course, the xpPhone. Here are the top model’s specs (there are versions below this, but why would you get them :P): Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth AMD Super Mobile Processor (not sure of Ghz but 1.6 is my guess, if anyone knows please comment) 1GB of RAM 4.8″ resistive touchscreen Up to a 64GB SSD AND a 120GB HDD 1.3MP camera Slide […]

New Phone: HTC Touch HD2 (HTC Leo)

The Touch HD2 is the rumored new name for the phone we’ve seen pop up here and there known as the HTC Leo. And frankly with good reason. Same form factor as the HD but with some serious upgrades. Check these out: 1Ghz Processor 5.0MP camera with dual LED flash Windows Mobile 6.5 with Touchflo 2.6 on top 4.3″ Capacitive Touchscreen 320MBs of RAM Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth 3.5mm Headphone jack Not too shabby, eh? T-Mobile’s 21Mbs/sec speed up and running in Philadelphia already?!

So much for a predicted 2010 rollout of their HSPA+ 21 Mb/s 3G service. Those in Philadelphia are already getting the ridiculous 3G speed! Now, one can assume that T-Mobile is still expecting a 2010 rollout and that this is just a premature test of concept to see if it will work before they start full on trying to roll this bad boy out. But still exciting news for T-Mobile users. The other good news about this is that it is supposedly backwards compatible! That means no new hardware to get the faster speeds. It will work on any phone

T-Mobile to Buy Sprint?

Ok so a few of our readers (thanks guys!) mentioned a possible T-Mobile purchase of Sprint here in the US and it got me extremely curious, so of course I did some snooping. The new CEO of Deutsche Telekom of Germany (the owner of all the T-Mobile’s worldwide, including our T-Mobile USA), Rene Obermann apparently is very serious about revamping T-Mobile. First he tackled T-Mobile UK, which was the third largest wireless carrier in the UK until Mr. Obermann put together a a joint venture between T-Mobile UK and Orange. After the merger T-Mobile is now the largest wireless carrier

This is important when talking about authorized cell phone dealers and I’ll explain why

How Contracts Work (and Why They Aren’t So Bad)

Ok, so we are all scared of the word contract. We picture a little devil (complete with horns and a pointy tail) waving a fancy scroll in one hand and a pen in the other telling us calmly to “just sign on the dotted line”. Even if you are one of the people that don’t picture this (it’s got to be like 1 % of the population that doesn’t picture this, right?), there is no doubt that we all have this inherent fear of contracts. We become immediately defensive and shy away the minute we hear the word. This is

TheUnlockr’s Alternative to a MiFi, Read Before You Get a MiFi

So I went into a Sprint and a Verizon store today and asked them about the MiFi, after they told me about it I got to thinking… trouble I know… but here’s what I came up with. A Sprint or Verizon MiFi will cost you the same up front, have the same monthly cost, and have the same 5GB cap on usage. So my only issue with this is the price per month and the data cap (mainly the data cap, 5GBs? I’d use that in a day… I have a disease, I think.). So I found out that you

T-Mobile to Boost Their Data Speeds Up to 21Mb/s!

Despite T-Mobile being the last one to the 3G party, they are claiming that they are going full steam ahead! T-Mobile says they will be upgrading their data network software as soon as the nationwide 3G rollout is complete later this year. This will immediately double their network speeds. Then after that they plan to move to HSPA 7.2 standards to reach theoretical download speeds of up to 7.2Mb/s (similar to AT&T’s current plans to boost their network from 3.6Mb/s to 7.2Mbs as we speak). So even though T-Mobile started much later than AT&T, if this happens they sure would

New Phone: HTC Touch2, HTC Touch2 vs HTC Tattoo

HTC announced a new phone called the HTC Touch2. This is a successor to the HTC Touch and is meant to target a similar market. It is a relatively inexpensive phone and has almost identical specs to the HTC Tattoo we mentioned recently. If you torn now between which one to choose, well I bet I can split anyone deciding between the HTC Touch2 and the HTC Tattoo really quickly with one of its features; the Touch2 runs on Windows Mobile and the Tattoo runs on Android. So it’s really a choice between OS’s. I thought it was interesting that

HTC Click Renamed the HTC Tattoo, Comes Out Soon

So the HTC Tattoo (the HTC formerly known as Click) is an Android handset with the Hero UI (Rosie) and a tiny pricetag. The reason for the tiny pricetag is the smaller camera (3.2MP instead of 5MP on the Hero), the screen size and resolution (down to 2.8″ with 240×320 pixels, instead of the 3.2″ 320×480 pixels), and a slight less bit of RAM (256Mbs from 288Mbs for the Hero, which is still 64Mbs more than the G1 or MyTouch). Other than that though (and the styling) all the other specs are almost identical. Not bad for a much more
