Everything Important From Google I/O 2018 in an Easy-to-Read Bulleted List

Besides the, admittedly weird, but also super interesting machine learning produced music, and the revelation that beer foam cannot defy physics, there was a bunch of things announced at Google I/O that I think are worth mentioning to people even if they aren’t developers. From new Google Maps features to Android P UI changes, here are the most important things I found from watching the Google I/O 2018 Keynote (so you don’t have to). GBoard and Gmail Gboard now supports morse code to people with disabilities. Smart Compose is a new autocomplete for phrases instead of just words that will

How to Get the Best Android P Features on Any Android Phone Right Now

The Android P developer preview was released a bit ago and while at the moment it’s only available for Nexus and Pixel devices (you can see how to install the preview for those devices in my video here), some developers have managed to grab some of the more interesting features from Android P and create APKs, or installable app files, from them. These can be easily installed to get these Android P features on any Android phone without the need for rooting the device and they can, of course, be easily uninstalled if you no longer want them. Camera Comparison: P20 Pro vs Pixel 2 XL vs iPhone X vs Galaxy S9 Plus

The Huawei P20 Pro was released recently and with it one of the first three camera smartphones (and the first using Leica as a partner, for sure). In addition to the 3x telephoto, the RGB, and monochrome cameras it’s sporting, it also has a much larger sensor than any other flagship device on sale right now. So, this begs the question, can that help the P20 Pro compete with the other best camera phones you can buy? Let’s do a camera comparison with the P20 Pro vs. the Pixel 2 XL, the iPhone X, and the Galaxy S9 Plus and

Speed Test: iPhone X vs iPhone 8 Plus vs iPhone 7 Plus vs iPhone 6S Plus (Video)

Another experiment today, this time it’s something I was wondering about iPhones. Even though we get newer processors and promised performance every year, does it really make a difference in our everyday life? So to test it, I put the iPhone X vs the iPhone 8 Plus vs the iPhone 7 Plus vs the iPhone 6S Plus and opened the same apps and games on each to see if there was any perceived difference in speed. Here’s what happened. FoneMonitor was kind enough to sponsor this video, please check them out for more info on how to monitor an employee

LG G7 ThinQ Specs Are Official: Here’s a Quick Bulleted List of Them

Today, LG released the 7th generation of their G-Series flagship devices, the LG G7 ThinQ. The device looks very similar to the G6 but has a metal trim around the outside and sports Gorilla Glass 5.0 on the front and back, is IP68-certified, and is Qi wireless charging capable. Just like the LG V30S ThinQ, the device has added AI functionality for things like the camera that enables it to auto-detect a scene and adjust color saturation, exposure, etc. for that specific scene. Other than that, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (the latest flagship processor also found

Android Automation

How to Automate Android with the Automate App (Video)

In a past tips and tricks Tuesday, I showed iOS users how to automate tasks on their iPhones and a bunch of you asked if there was some way to automate Android in a similar fashion. So I looked into it and it turns out, there are a bunch of Android automation apps in the Play Store. One of the most popular is called Tasker, which you might be familiar with, and it’s great, but I found another one I think might be better for people just starting out with Android automation. Samsung Onyx LED Panel

Samsung Just Entirely Changed the Movie Theater Industry With This New Tech

Samsung sent me to Cinemacon in Las Vegas recently, a convention where vendors go to show off the latest technology for movie theaters. From new ticketing solutions, to sound systems, 3D tech, and even those crazy moving chairs (really not a fan of those chairs). But the reason Samsung was there was because they’re breaking into the theater business in a big way. The Samsung Onyx Cinema LED Screen This is the Samsung Onyx and it’s a giant LED screen meant to be used in movie theaters (it’s called Onyx because of its ability to produce pure blacks, but we’ll

Samsung VR Pilot Season Featured

At Samsung’s VR Pilot Week, I Experienced Something in VR I Never Have Before

Samsung is really pushing VR. It began with the mission to get VR hardware into the hands of more people that weren’t about to go out and buy a high-end HTC Vive or Oculus Rift. The release of the Gear VR headset in November of 2015, followed by the second gen a year later (and other smaller updates after that), its relatively low price (so long as you had one of Samsung’s compatible devices), and the fact those compatible devices were already in the hands of millions of consumers, and we arrive at today. As of last year, Samsung released

How to Stop Telemarketer Calls Once and For All (Video)

I get a lot of telemarketer calls. So many, in fact, I’ve contemplated changing my number just to try and get it under control–it’s that bad. So in search of a better option to help stop telemarketer calls, I think I came up with a way to limit them that, so far, seems to be doing pretty well. Now, you can, and should, use your phone’s built-in blocking feature. You can tap and hold on a phone number you know is a spam caller in the call log and tap block on most devices but the issue with this is

Okay so today you might have seen the news already, but Boosted Board–who makes boosted boards the super popular, quite expensive, electric skateboards that people like Casey Neistat and other YouTubers ride–finally came out with an entirely new line of not one, but four boards. They sent one to Mr. Neistat, and he did a quick hands-on video with the help of another YouTuber named Marques Brownlee (MKBHD).
