HTC vying for the “first 3D Android” title

With Sharp already in the mix, it has now come to our attention that HTC may be planning to do the same – build a 3D Android phone and build it before anybody else does.  The rumor has sprung up after HTC advertised a job opening looking for a design engineer with the knowhow on 3D displays and imaging tech, but of course, this could also mean there might be a WP7 3D phone brewing too. All this might sound like conjecture right now, but with the Taiwanese mobile giant having already dabbled with 3D before (as was evident by […]

Official Google Reader app now available for Android OS

We have been making do with gReader (which is a great app by the way) as the mobile replacement for Google Reader all these days for our newsfeed needs, but no more, as the official Google Reader for Android is here.  The app has been a long time coming seeing other Google apps like Search and Gmail have been with Android all along, but as they say, better late than never. The app ports over most of the Reader features we have come to love like multiple accounts, feed search, subscribing to RSS feeds directly from the phone and synced

Fully loaded LG Star Android phone pictured

And when we say fully loaded, we mean ultrahigh specs for a mobile that should put a low-end PC to shame.  Phandroid, an emerging authority on Android phones, has snagged a few pics showing the unreleased Android 2.2 phone and a few important specs to go with them.  The LG Star runs on the dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 along with an unknown amount of RAM, an HDMI port (with 1080p recording and output), a huge 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display, and an 8-megapixel camera.  There’s also a hint of a front-facing camera, so videocalling should be possible too.  The phone currently

Apple iPad available for $400 at TJ Maxx and Marshalls

At a time when Apple products sell for a premium, it is rare to find deals such as these but at TJ Maxx and Marshalls, the iPad is cheap, just like everything else available there.  The 16GB variant of the iPad is available for $399, a full $100 less than the regular price, only at select stores.  The supply is also limited, so hurry if you are in the market for a tablet before you miss out on a great deal for the holiday season. We don’t see the angle here for TJ Maxx and its subsidized price, but could

TAT adds three live wallpapers to the Android Market

One of the things I love about Android is the ability to add live wallpapers and although it does drain my battery faster than usual, once in a while, I still like to look at Mario doing his rounds whenever I wake my phone up or pick it up to make a call.  And if you’re like me, you should download the three live wallpapers that TAT has just put up, the Blue Range, Artemia and Retro Pixels, which seem a tad more interactive than your usual run of wallpapers.  Like for example, with Retro Pixels, you can see flowers

Palm Pre 2 heading to the UK on November 15th with no carrier adoption

The Palm Pre 2 is a pretty popular smartphone alright, but to release it without the backing of any carriers would be daunting to say the least.  But that is what the situation is as of now, with the Pre2 on its way to land in the UK and all the major carriers in the country throwing their hands up and saying it won’t be available on their networks.  After the Palm Pre’s huge success, the much improved second iteration could find enough takers but Palm would still be tapping out of a huge market where buyers would like to

The Nexus S is real and is coming to Best Buy

It took an undoubting reader and a flurry of legit leaks to change our skepticism to conviction, but the Nexus S aka Nexus Two is real and is getting ready to hit T-Mobile. The rumor first attained a bit of credibility when Best Buy unwittingly listed a T-Mobile-bound Samsung “Nexus S” as a “Pure Google Experience” phone but the company botched up even more later, when it posted an actual picture of the device in a webflyer on its “In-Store” page. The phone looks similar to the mockup we had reported with earlier, but with much more curvy edges and

We should have known, especially when it was vehemently denied by the Eric Schmidt himself, but ah well…you can’t blame us for being hopeful.  The South Korean cellphone giant has now come out in the open and rejected all that was floating in the rumorverse, saying that they will surely be announcing an Android phone but it won’t be the Nexus Two.   Instead, it is a dual-screen Android smartphone called the Samsung Continuum that will be available exclusively on Verizon. The Continuum i400 will feature an additional ticker-like screen below the main display for instant alerts on email, messaging
