HTC Touch Pro 2 gets an update, reminds us Windows Mobile 6.5 isn’t completely dead

This definitely is the age of Android and the iOS (not to mention Windows Phone 7), but it hasn’t been too long to forget a popular device such as the Touch Pro 2.  It seems like HTC hasn’t forgetten too and the QWERTY-toting Touch Pro 2 now has an update, although the company fails to tell us exactly what it brings.  The only info on it is that it “updates the system stability” and if you are still rocking this old gun, you might want to check it out. The file is only about 156 Kilobytes, so we are guessing […]

Motorola Atrix 4G on Amazon for $50

The fastest horse in the AT&T stable will be available on Amazon for just $50 this weekend.  The offer is limited to this particular weekend, so if you have had your eye on the Atrix 4G but couldn’t scrape up the $200 you need to plop down in an AT&T store to own the device, this is your chance.  You’ll still need to sign away two years of your mobile freedom to the said carrier though. The price definitely seems cheap for a phone that was the first to come with a dual-core processor, and its other features aren’t light

T-Mobile G2 to get Android 2.3 this summer?

It’s European counterpart, the Desire Z, is already on the list to get Gingerbread by the end of June, but will the T-Mobile G2 get the same treatment? It seems so, according to Computer World.  An HTC official confirmed the news on the phone to them and as usual, gave them a vague Q2 2011 time frame.  Still, this seems in sync with HTC’s official announcement for the other Desire series phones and we could well be seeing the G2 getting upgraded to Android 2.3 at the same time as its other variants. As of now, only the Nexus One

Motorola begins testing Android 2.2 for Bravo, asks 1000 users to help

Released in November 2010 on AT&T, the Motorola Bravo has been stuck with Android 2.1 Eclair operating system since its release.  But it seems that the situation may not remain so for long and Motorola is actually giving an opportunity to participate in the process and in turn get the Froyo update out the door sooner (or so we think).  The company has invited 1000 Bravo users to experiment with an Android 2.2 build for the said device and other than enjoying in-browser Flash and the option to move apps to the SD cards, all they would need to is

There’s no change in its other features including its Mali 400 GPU, 1GB

LTE toggle for HTC Thunderbolt helps save battery life

Don’t get us wrong, we like the uberfast downloads that LTE/4G networks allow and equally love the HTC Thunderbolt, but with its 1400mAH battery, the device just doesn’t last for more than about 2 hours if under constant use. Viable solutions could include an extra battery pack but a better option would the ability to switch off 4G and surf the 3G waves for a while, a fair tradeoff for longer lasting battery life. Enter LTE OnOFF, an app which does just that. Developed by AndIRC, this free application gives Thunderbolt users the capability to turn off 4G and switch

Three UK prepping Gingerbread for Samsung Galaxy S

A few days back, Three UK had announced that it will starting pushing out Gingerbread Android 2.3 update to the HTC Desire, most probably in late April/early May.   The UK carrier seems to be in a really good mood nowadays as once again, they have announced on Twitter that yet another device on their network, the Galaxy S, will be getting the 2.3 update OTA in “a couple of weeks.”  That is no more specific than the announcement for the Desire but it still does give Three UK users a vague time frame to expect the update. The European version

Android 3.0 Music Player apk leaked, ready for perusal

The app may be designed for the tablet version of Android, but it seems to play nice with smaller displays too.  Apparently, a writer over at TechFrom10 was fortuitous enough to somehow get a test market on to his phone and with a  little more digging, unearthed the 3.0.336 music player embedded.  The app brings a “Recent” section that is complete with album previews and features a revamped UI with a currently non-working streaming music service included. Download it here and get a sneak peak at a little part of Android 3.0 on your smartphone. Source
