BlackBerry PlayBook gets a video chat app

It seems that Droid users aren’t the only ones who will be able to video chat on their devices, as RIM has announced an app that does just the same for its PlayBook users.  As with GTalk, the PlayBook video chat application also uses the front-facing camera but with a vastly limited scope – the person on the other ends needs to have RIM’s tablet too.  Moreover, the app only works with WiFi connections which further limits its usability.  We distinctly remember Skype being demoed on the PlayBook this CES, which we think should be for more functional with cross-platform […]

Free Android apps now number more than that of iOS

If this isn’t a sign of Droid supremacy, we really don’t know what is. According to Distimo, a company with a roving eye on applications across platforms, and its recently released findings, the Android Market currently has 134,000 compared to the Apple iPhone’s most recent count of 121,000 – a huge leap for the former if the age of both platforms is considered. The Apple store still has a strong foothold in terms of total apps currently available for its iOS ecosystem (with 333,000 odd apps), but Distimo says this may not last for long as the app count on
