First look at the Nokia WP7 Mango phone – the “Sea Ray”

If there is anything that goads somebody to record something, it would include the words, “super confidential” and “put away your cameras” – seems like Nokia’s Stephen Elop missed the class on that one.  Anyways, feast your eyes on what is supposed to be the first ever Windows Phone 7 device, codenamed the “Sea Ray.”  The device does look a tad bit similar to the recently announced N9, but the addition of shutter button on the phone’s side and the dissimilar LED placement next to the 8MP camera should dissuade any assumptions that this is in fact the N9 somehow […]

Motorola Atrix 4G up for Gingerbread in July

The half-year-old AT&T device has been enjoying Froyo for a while now and it looks like Motorola has now deemed it fit to get a bite at the Gingerbread update.  While the news is still not official, the update is currently being tested for the Atrix 4G, which is a sure indication of the what’s to come very soon. The update was implied on early last month but it was more of an intention than a concrete roll-out plan, but with testing currently underway, July seems to be a likely month for the update to begin rolling out.  Alongside the

UK: Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray coming to Three UK soon

Announced barely 24 hours earlier, the Xperia Ray has already found an adopter on the other side of the Atlantic.  The Android smartphone has now been announced to become available on Three UK in the third quarter of this year, as revealed by Sony Ericsson yesterday. Features haven’t changed from what we reported yesterday but if you missed them, head over to the earlier post to know more.  You can still expect the same 1GHz processor, 3.3 inch touchscreen display with Sony’s BRAVIA engine, an 8MP shooter, and Android 2.3 operating system as its highlights. We’ll continue to get you

LG Thrill 4G, first 3D phone for AT&T, announced

AT&T has now announced a new Android device for its future lineup – the LG Thrill 4G.  The press release was decidedly sparse on important details like the availability and pricing, but at the least, this announcement should give AT&T users something to look forward to. The Thrill 4G is actually not a new phone but a rebranded LG Optimus 3D – so if you know the Optimus 3D, you pretty much know what the Thrill 4G is all about.  And since the Optimus 3D hasn’t seen the light of the day yet, we could expect the Thrill 4G to

Arnova 7, a $99 7-inch Android tablet

The $99 price tag does sound tempting, but beware, there are a few limitations you should know about before you even start thinking about getting the Arnova 7 from, well, Arnova.  First off, the tablet runs Android 2.2, so if you are looking for the latest build of Honeycomb or even think this might be upgraded in the future, you will be wrong on both counts here.  And then there’s the Android Market, or the lack thereof – the device only has access to AppsLib store instead of the original Android Market, giving you access to about 38771 apps out

Video: Nokia N950 dev phone puts in an appearance

It seems that the N9 wasn’t the only MeeGo device that’s been cooked up in the Nokia labs recently.  The device in the video above, codenamed the N950, is actually the developer-only version of the N9 and will be available for a reserved few, and that too if they are in the right developer community. Feature-wise, the N950 seems similar to the N9, except for a few changes that make this a better/worse device than the N9.  The handset features a full slide-out QWERTY keypad, aluminum housing and a 4-inch LCD touchscreen display (compared to the 3.9 incher on the

Gingerbread-toting Huawei Glory on its way to Cricket Wireless

This news should definitely get some Cricket Wireless customers happy, who have had to make do with low to mid-range devices until now.  The Huawei Glory (or the Huawei M886 if you prefer numbers to fancy names) features a pretty fast 1.4GHz processor and although whether this is dual cored or not is debatable, this would still be the fastest processor we have seen from Huawei and in turn, the fastest Android phone than usual Cricket users have seen lately. Other features include a 4-inch WVGA multitouch display, an 8MP camera, WiFi, GPS, 2GB of onboard storage, and a hefty

Sony Ericsson announces the Ray and Active for its Xperia lineup

Sony Ericsson today announced three new handsets – two of which are additions to its Xperia Android smartphone lineup – the Xperia Ray and Active.  The third, the SE TXT, on the other hand, may not be an Android device but isn’t entirely dumb either – it features a 3.2-megapixel camera, a 2.6-inch scratch-resistant touchscreen display, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a full QWERTY portrait keypad that can be used to send texts in a jiffy or chat away with the built-in Google Talk/Facebook app – still no proper OS means a lot of limitations and more importantly, no Angry Birds! Motorola Droid X gets a CyanogenMod 7 build

The Droid X has already seen itself upgraded to Gingerbread officially, but for those who like the extra tweaks that CM7 brings, cvpcs of RootzWiki has developed a ROM catering to just those needs.  The chef has brewed up a pretty solid build except for a few kinks – a non-working camera and sporadically working YouTube app. The torch app also tends to force-close a lot, but this is something that can be lived with compared to the former defects and overall, makes this a usable CM7 ROM.  That said, the dev in question is still working on it and

Samsung Dart coming to T-Mobile on June 15th

As the document above clearly suggests, HTC Sensation 4G won’t be the only one hogging all the limelight tomorrow.  There’s one more Android phone from Samsung as well that will join T-Mobile on June 15th, but with a far less impressive spec sheet.  The Samsung Dart (model number: t499) will have a 3mpx camera, Bluetooth, WiFi, a touchscreen display of unknown size, and comes bundled with a 2GB microSD card and Skype preinstalled.  The OS of choice seems to be Android 2.2, which is not surprising considering what’s on offer in terms of hardware. Not much, we know, but it

The iOS5 may have been freed from Apple’s clutches in record time, but it still took a while to get the jailbreak nicely packed and ready for general use.  The time has now come and Mac users can now jailbreak their devices which recently took the jump up to iOS5 beta, thanks to Redsn0w 0.9.8b1 by the Dev-Team.  You’ll still have to connect your device to a Mac every time you reboot, which is a pain, but better than not having your iPhone/iPad unlocked at all. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 “Flashes” its wares against the iPad2 in its latest ad

The above video takes care to showcase all that the Tab 10.1 is made of, but can’t help casually flipping the finger at its direct competitor, the iPad 2.  Between gloating on its display handling cool games and its processing power taking care of business, the video shows a certain white tablet incapable of running a Flash application, and we all know what’s white, big and can’t run Flash right? Still, the iPad2 has its own virtues and to each their own, as they say.  Watch the whole video above. Source

LG to release a Skype edition of the Optimus Black for Telus

The specs are the same as the original Optimus Black – 4 inch NOVA display, 5MP rear lens with a 2mpx secondary cam, and Android 2.2 OS to name a few.  But the one difference is the Skype branding, which seems needless if you consider that anyone with a capable Android handset can download the app for free via the Market.  Nevertheless, the Skyped Optimus Black is headed for Telus some time in the summer and users buying this special edition will get the Skype app preinstalled and a free $2 credit in their Skype account.  These users will also
