HTC Rhyme now on sale from Verizon for $199.99

The HTC Rhyme, which became official a few days ago is now on sale from Verizon.  The device, pegged as a “ladies phone” as you can see from the promo above, seems alright for the metrosexual man too, if he can ignore the purple hue that it is garbed in. We have known its specs since its appearance as the Bliss, but for the uninitiated, the Rhyme will feature a a single-core 1GHz processor, a 3.7 inch WVGA display, 4GB of internal storage with a microSD slot for expansion up to 32GB, and a 5MP rear-facing camera.  The handset has […]

Nexus One gets Android 2.3.6 unofficially

While the Samsung Infuse 4G got its own version of Gingerbread love recently, Google’s own Nexus One is one step further with this leak of Gingerbread 2.3.6 OS.  The build, numbered GRK39F, has popped recently on the internet and is ready to be used by N1 user game enough to do flash it on his own, which should be easy, since the leak appears to be that of a flashable zip file, which means no convoluted procedure or jumping through a lot of hoops before getting a N1 that’s running Android 2.3.6. Follow these steps to get your device updated

Samsung Omnia W with Windows Phone 7.5 Mango coming later this year

Samsung has revealed its first entrant into the WinPho 7.5 realm, the Omnia W.  If you guys remember, the Omnia series was a well-known line of Windows Mobile smartphones that did really well in their time, before the iPhone or the G1 stormed the market and changed everything. Anyways, coming back to the Omnia W, it sounds like a decent device with a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED display that is capable of spitting out resolutions of up to 800×480, runs on a 1.4GHz single-core processor using 512MB RAM, and features a 5MP camera.  These do not sound that high end, but

Nokia N9 with MeeGo OS now shipping in Europe

The first (and the last) MeeGo-based smartphone announced by Nokia is now available across Europe.  Revealed initially in June, before Nokia’s marriage with Microsoft to develop Windows Phone devices, the N9 is all screen and no buttons as you can see from the picture above and is solely dependent on the touchscreen for any type of input, including a swipe to unlock the device.  The device looks gorgeous though, thanks to this minimalist design, but once we get past that beauty, we’ll find features that aren’t really unheard of, except for may be the ability to pair with Bluetooth devices

First official picture of the HTC Evo Design 4G leaked

More widely known as the HTC Kingdom until now, the upcoming Evo Design 4G is most definitely poised for a release in the near future, if the leaked press shot you see above is anything to go by.  The picture, dug up by PocketNow, shows us a device in the usual Android/HTC barphone form factor and can be seen sporting the Sprint logo prominently on the right hand top corner. All its features point to a mid-range Android 2.3 device – a single-core 1.2GHz processor, 768MB RAM, and a 5MP camera with a 1.3mpx sensor on the front.  The 4-inch

The Photon 4G may not be getting a major update for a while to come since it’s already running Android 2.3.4 but the manufacturer is working towards fixing bugs and improving the device’s overall performance.  This latest update, which brings the device’s OS number up to 4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_6/45.2.7.MB855.Sprint.en.US, is mainly aimed at improving WiFi performance but there are reports that the handset feels slightly faster than before, which is saying something for a phone with a dual-core CPU. Anyways, here’s what Moto wants you to do if you haven’t got the OTA notification to upgrade: Select the Settings icon in the

Pantech Breakout arriving in Verizon stores, gets pictured meanwhile

Standing at the polar end from the Droid Bionic, the Pantech Breakout may not have the same kind of horsepower (or the hype) surrounding the Motorola device, but can still be pegged as an attractive device, largely due to its LTE support.  The device has started arriving in Verizon stores slowly in time for its September 22nd release date, and lucky for us, a sly VZW employee decided to give us a sneak peek at the device before its market debut. We had word of its decent features earlier this month and if its 4G network support, 1GHz dual-core processor,
