Archos isn’t a name you hear very often in the Android realm, but it seems that we might have to start taking notice of this French company in the future.  While other hefty device manufacturers are still in the process of getting Android 4.0 ready for their high-end (and popular) devices, Archos has already started rolling out the Android 4.0.3 update for two of its tablets, the Archos 101 G9 (10.1 inch version) and the Archos 80 G9(with an 8-inch display) – this giant leap from Honeycomb to Ice-Cream Sandwich will definitely elate users who bought these devices, based solely […]

Android 4.0 coming to a HTC Sensation near you very soon, already rolling out in Nordic Countries

The One X and the One S may have swept us off the floor this MWC, but it’s still the Sensation that is ruling the roost until these two superphones are released by HTC.  And what can make this device better than it is already? Ice-cream Sandwich of course, which seems to be coursing towards devices in some European countries, including Germany possibly. While there are a ton of custom ROMs to play with for the HTC Sensation, an official release of an update is always appreciated since the device manufacturer will have update suited to a tee for the

CyanogenMod 9 ported to work with the Xperia X10 Mini, X8 and X10 Mini Pro

With this CM9 port, the developer community has beaten Sony Ericsson (or is it just Sony now for the old devices too?) to a certain degree, who is still working on an ICS update for all of its Xperia devices.  The ROM was built by by paul-xxx over at XDA and is based on CyanogenMod 9, the dev-team moniker for ICS-based ROMs, and seems fully functional for three Xperia devices – X10 Mini Pro, X10 Mini and X8 – if not for a few bugs that are bound to pop up at this early stage of development anyways. The camera,

The Nokia Lumia 800 is now available on Telus Canada and if any of our Canadian neighbors need a WP7.5 fix, this is their chance.  The device was announced by Telus in early January, but it has taken them almost two months to actually release it – interested buyers can pick this device up for $529.99 without a contract, $479.99 with a one-year contract, $429.99 with a two-year lockdown, or just $49.99 if you are ready to write away three years of your mobile service to Telus. The prices do seem steep but I presume there will be buyers –

Unofficial port of Ice-Cream Sandwich for the Huawei Ideos X5

The Ideos X5, that Android device released by Huawei last April in case you forgot, has got a new lease of life, thanks to a port of Android 4.0 released recently.  The hero responsible for this feat, dzo, must be a proud owner himself to dedicate such time to a device of this caliber and needless to say, all that midnight coding and tweaking has paid off and he now has a ROM that is called the Aurora ICS.  While fully functional, there are a few nags at the current time like slow startup of GPS or spotty WiFi connectivity

It is rather surprising to see that, Skype, being Microsoft’s own subsidiary, hasn’t had a proper Windows Phone app until now.  And now that it is announced, it is again surprising to see a beta version instead of one ready for primetime, although going by what has been revealed about the app, the “beta” seems just a tag right now with most features already working.
