The video illustrates touch capable features of the updated Blackberry OS 7.0 which seems to run similar to Android or iOS. Apple Strikes A Deal With Grand Central Station, 10 Years In The Making

Who said persistence doesn’t pay off? According to the New York Post, Apple finally landed a deal with the MTA ten years in the making. The agreement will bring a 23,000-square foot Apple Store to Grand Central Station, one of New York City’s busiest transportation hubs. The future Apple store will take the place of Charlie Palmer’s Metrazur restaurant, with the rent finalized at a staggering $800,000 per year. As part of the negotiations, the rent is slated to increase to $1 million after ten years pass, which in itself is impressive that Apple managed to lock in a 10 year lease. AT&T LG Thrill 4G Available For Pre-Order At Radioshack

The AT&T branded LG Thrill 4G, which is AT&T’s variant of the LG Optimus 3D, is now up for pre-order at Radioshack with the purchase of a $50 gift card. The gift card will be used towards the purchase of the phone when it becomes available. According to the screenshots floating around, the device can be all yours for $80 with a two-year contract or for $550 without a contract. Google Acquires PittPatt For Mobile Facial Recognition Technology

Google has facial recognition in its future, as it recently acquired Pittsburgh based company PittPatt for the very purpose of utilizing the technology. PittPatt specializes in facial recognition that has been used both for basic face detection in addition to live face tracking during live photo and video capture. The company suggested its facial recognition technology would likely be used for basic photo sorting to “complex video and mobile applications” in the Android operation system. If you already own an unlocked GSM phone or an unlocked iPhone that you’d rather use on T-Mobile’s network then today is your lucky day. T-Mobile officially announced they are now providing micro-SIM cards for consumers to purchase. The micro-SIM cards are priced at $9.99 but are currently being offered online for free. Sprint Prepares Android 2.3.5 Update For Nexus S 4G, OTA July 25th

Does improved WiMAX performance, Wi-Fi connectivity, speakerphone quality tweaks, and TTY support for your Nexus S 4G sound appealing? Sprint agrees as they are preparing an Over The Air (OTA) Android 2.3.5 update for the device slated to roll out Monday July 25th, featuring the above mentioned improvements. Blackberry PlayBook Becomes First Government Approved Tablet

Blackberry may have experienced lackluster consumer PlayBook sales but that hasn’t stopped the company from shifting their focus on a higher authority, the United States government that is. Blackberry was proud to announce that their PlayBook tablet has officially received FIPS 140-2 certification, and it is currently the only media tablet to have been approved from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Hitachi Introduces 4.5 inch Glasses-Free 3D Display For Smartphones

For all of the glasses-free 3D buffs out there, it appears that the 3D technology could see some improvements thanks to Hitachi’s latest 4.5-inch IPS display. The display not only sports a high 1280 x 720 resolution, but it utilizes a less common lenticular lens approach instead of the parallax barrier method used by well known devices such as the Nintendo 3DS and the HTC EVO 3D. For comparison, the previous model displayed by Hitachi was sized at just 3.1 inches and had 480×854 resolution. Samsung Galaxy Q May Just Be An Entry Level Slider

Recent rumors had the Samsung Galaxy Q pegged as being a high-end device with not much else known about the handset. Now thanks to leaked images obtained by MobileSyrup the Galaxy Q appears to be more on the entry level category versus a higher end smartphone. The leaked images display a full  QWERTY slider with a 3.2-inch touchscreen. Tips to MobileSyrup have the device most likely running on Android 2.3.  Canadian carrier Rogers’ advance memos to retail stores also are consistent with an entry level device categorizing the Galaxy Q as a “Smartphone Lite.” The official launch is scheduled before summer’s end and a US release is still an unknown.
