LG Thrill 4G Makes Official AT&T Debut at $100

After several unexplained delays the LG Thrill finally made its official AT&T debut. The AT&T variant dubbed the Optimus 3D is for sale now at $100 with a 2 year contract. Originally introduced back in March at CTIA 2011, the device doesn’t pack any surprises in the spec department. Spec highlights include a 1GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4 CPU with 512MB of RAM, Android Froyo, a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 display, 1080p video capture and dual 5MP rear stereoscopic cameras. HTC Desire HD Users Get an Unofficial Taste of Sense 3.5

Provided your comfortable flashing a custom ROM, HTC Desire HD users can now enjoy all the unofficial glory of Sense 3.5. The reliable crew over at XDA-Developers have taken a leaked version of Sense 3.5 intended for the upcoming HTC Bliss and ported it over for the Desire HD. There are a few bugs with the 2.3.4 based ROM including Bluetooth not working at all, but this seems a small price to pay in order to have the latest Android skins. HP Plans to Split webOS Team According to Leaked Internal Memos

According to two internal HP emails leaked to PreCentral, the company intends to split the webOS Global Business Unit into two. It will push the webOS software side over to the Office of Strategy and Technology while the ex-Palm hardware branch will remain part of the Personal Systems Group. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Pulls Vanishing Act At IFA, Possibly Due To Apple Legal Battle

Just a few short days after the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 was formally introduced at this year’s IFA show in Berlin, the Honeycomb slab pulled a vanishing act from the showroom floor. All traces of the tablet were removed including all demo devices and branded marketing materials. Toshiba Introduces the AT200, Thinnest Android Tablet Yet

During the IFA show in Berlin on Thursday, Toshiba unveiled the AT200, an Android Honeycomb tablet that is set to be the thinnest Android tablet yet. Measuring in at just 7.7mm thick it makes it .9mm thinner than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. It appears as though Toshiba has set out to compete with Samsung in the battle of the tablets. The AT200 beautifully sports a 10.1-inch display with a 1280 x 800-pixel resolution. Additional specs include a microUSB port, a microSD slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a micro-HDMI port, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera and a two-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats.

Samsung CEO Says ‘Never’ to Purchasing HP’s webOS

After the quick demise of HP’s webOS, rumors were spread ramptly in speculation of who, if anyone, was going to buy up the webOS platform. It wasn’t long before speculation swirled around Samsung as a possible bidder. However, with Samsung’s plate already full with Bada, Android, and Windows Phone 7, the company has officially declined. HTC has a press release scheduled Thursday evening at Berlin’s IFA and is widely expected to unveil their Eternity and Omega smartphones. US Justice Department Sues to Block AT&T and T-Mobile Merger, AT&T Responds

Bloomberg reports that the U.S. Justice Department has indeed filed to block the controversial AT&T and T-Mobile merger. Ironically, it was just this morning that AT&T and T-Mobile promised approximately 5,000 jobs would be created in the merger as incentive to let the merger pass. It appears that the mere promise of jobs was simply not enough, as shortly after news of the Justice Department’s Antitrust lawsuit broke.
