Facebook has finally confirmed that Android users will see an update to their beloved mobile application. Loyal users can look forward to an entire new user interface, a revamped way to “tag” photos, and updates to the photo editing options. RIM Loses BBX Trademark Fight, Will Name New OS BlackBerry 10

Research In Motion (RIM) was forced to relinquish their plans of naming the next BlackBerry operating system “BBX” after a US Federal Court ruled against the manufacturer. “BBX” is currently being used by BASIS International for their software, and the US Federal Court intends to keep it that way. Consequently, RIM has announced at BlackBerry DevCon Asia that their next operating system will be called BlackBerry 10 instead. Verizon Officially Unveils the White Motorola Droid RAZR and the Motorola Droid XYBOARD Tablets in 10″ and 8.2″

We knew December was going to keep us busy, and apparently Verizon had their hands full as well with three new device announcements today. Big Red officially announced the arrival of the Droid XYBOARD, a 4G LTE tablet, in both 10″ and 8.2″ sizes. Wall Street Journal Reports the Verizon Galaxy Nexus Will Be Priced at $299.99 On Two-Year Contract

With the blogosphere buzzing about Verizon’s expected December Galaxy Nexus launch, it comes as no surprise that the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) would get tipped on the handset’s pricing. According to sources “familiar with the matter”, Verizon will offer new customers their Ice Cream Sandwich chills and thrills for $299.99 on a two-year contract. The high $299.99 price point would be in line with other high end smartphones like the HTC Rezound or the Motorola Droid RAZR, which are currently available for sale now. Xbox Companion App Launches December 6th for WP7 Users Alongside Xbox 360 Fall 2011 Dashboard Update

Sprint Agrees to Save Clearwire, WiMAX Lives A Little While Longer

In an attempt to throw Clearwire a lifeline, Sprint has agreed to bail its WiMAX provider out of their current financial troubles to the hefty tune of $1.6 billion. Thanks to Sprint’s generosity, Clearwire will now be able to make their $237 million dollar interest payment due today. Clearwire’s future was looking rather dismal after it first announced their financial woes in November. The agreement has Sprint set to pay $926 million to keep the WiMAX network running through 2015. Additionally, the Now Network has promised to throw in $350 million to help ensure the company’s planned transition over to LTE, plus another $347 million in equity funding

Android 4.1.0 Makes Its Way to the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus?

Well, what do we have here? According to a screenshot posted to My Droid World, it appears that Android 4.1.0 has graced the likes of Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy Nexus. From what we can see from the screenshot the firmware update brings along a new baseband radio for the Ice Cream Sandwich packing handset. Maybe this is why it’s taken so long for Verizon to launch the phone. Either way, we’re hoping we don’t have much longer to wait before Verizon officially unleashes the Galaxy Nexus out into the wild. Source

Google Quietly Releases OTA Update for Galaxy Nexus, Fixes Volume Bug

Just as promised, Google quietly released an OTA update for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in response to numerous European users complaining of an odd volume bug. Google determine the bug, which allowed the volume to change on its own, was a software issue and not a problem with the hardware. Reportedly, several users have already received the update, approximately 1MB in size, and claim that it only addresses the volume issue without any additional updates for the device.
